United doubles fee for second checked bag
United Airlines will double the fee it charges passengers for checking a second bag.
Beginning Tuesday, the $25 fee will jump to $50 for domestic travel on or after Nov. 10. United already charges a $15 fee for the first checked bag.
The airline said it expects the revenue from its merchandising efforts, including the baggage fees, to amount to $700 million next year.
United served more than 750,000 passengers at Oakland International Airport in 2007 faxless payday loan. The carrier also operates a hub at San Francisco International Airport.
United estimates the fee will apply to one in every seven passengers. Exempt from the charge will be customers in United First or United Business class, have Premier status with United or Star Alliance, or active-duty military personnel traveling on orders.
