Tim Hortons sets up shop at UB
Fast food retailing history is being made on the University at Buffalo campus.
For the first time, Tim Hortons will be opening on-campus locations in the U.S. and the University at Buffalo was selected as the premiere sites. Two outlets will be in business as of Wednesday, located in UB's Student Union and Alfiero Hall on the North Campus. Two additional kiosk locations — one in Baldy Hall on the North Campus and Farber Hall on the South Campus — will open for the fall semester beginning in late August.
Tim Hortons has 123 university locations in Canada.
"Convenience is king," said Jon Maurer, Tim Hortons regional marketing manager. "People in Buffalo feel attached to Tim Hortons."
Tim Hortons has 80 locations in the immediate Buffalo Niagara region including stand-alone stores and kiosk locations cash advance. The chain was founded and named after the former NHL defenseman who played two seasons for the Buffalo Sabres before he was killed in a single-car accident in February 1974.
Tim Hortons has been on aggressive expansion campaign including recently opening three sites in downtown Buffalo.
