Paypal sees big online holiday shopping spike
PayPal, eBay Inc.'s payment processing subsidiary, said Friday that it saw a 30 percent increase in the volume of U.S. payments on Thanksgiving Day compared to last year.
In 2008, PayPal reported only a 15 percent jump in Thanksgiving Day payments compared to 2007.
In addition to processing payments for San Jose-based eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY), PayPal handles those duties for a number of online retailers so its volume is seen as a good measure of such activity payday loan no fax no credit check.
PayPal's numbers appeared to be supported by Web analytics company Coremetrics Inc., which also said online sales were up 30 percent on the 500 U.S. brands it tracks.
